| KENThe Keratoconus Evaluation Network was created indirectly by experience of keratoconus in TnT. After the SGHO conference in May 2008, Lynn White presented some of the results from the clinical sessions at the BCLA conference in the UK. South African Optometrist, Dirk Booysen was interested, but said that HE thought Keratoconus incidence was actually higher in South Africa. The ensuing discussion went on by email after the conference and both thought it might be a good idea to create a new study based on CLEK, (Collaborative Longitudinal Evaluation of Keratoconus) a study of the condition conducted in the US. However, this new study would concentrate on parts of the world outside the normal UK/US/European axis. If information on Keratoconus from TnT and South Africa could be combined, it might provide important information from a large database. This idea can easily expand to include more countries but will get its first discussion group in action at Vision 2008 in South Africa 11th -14th July.
