Trinidad Keratoconus Study (TKS)

The study is beginning to take shape with several optometrists showing interest. It is still in its early stages and the immediate point to be addressed is how we define keratoconus for the purposes of an international study. There is a good debate going on in the KEN forums but mainly South African optoms - so please, lets get some Trini input!

One thing is for sure.... whereas in the past, diagnosis was reliant on physical signs and changes in prescription, nowadays we can diagnose with topography. So, if you have patients that you know are KC but never got around to referring becasue they were being managed perfectly well in practice, now maybe the time to get an official diagnosis.

Topography is currently available in two centres in Trinidad: At SGHO Optometry Unit and at the offices of Deo Singh, Grand Bazaar.
